 Australia)</strong><br /><br />Are you an early- and mid-career researcher 
 (EMCRS) looking to improve your data skills and become more effective at us
 ing data for your research?<br /><br />The Australian Academy of Science, i
 n association with Software Carpentry, CODATA and RDA, would like to invite
  you to submit an expression of interest to participate in the <strong><a h
 ref="http://newsletter.science.org.au/t/i-l-bjrdhkk-qitkhhidu-y/" target="_
 blank" rel="noopener">Research Data Science Winter School</a> at the Univer
 sity of Queensland in Brisbane, on 12-15 June 2018</strong>.<br /><br />The
  Research Data Science Winter School’s program is based on the successful I
 nternational Summer school on Research Data Science. It features 2 days of 
 hands-on sessions by Software Carpentry, followed by 2 days of tutorial bas
 ed sessions on Research Data Management, Research Computational Infrastruct
 ure and key considerations when using data for your research.<br /><br /><s
 trong>Who can apply?</strong><br />Application are open to EMCRs from diffe
 rent disciplines who already have experience collecting and analysing data,
  but are looking to take their data skills to the next level.<br />The them
 e of the school will be Smart Cities and EMCRs whose research aligns with t
 heme will likely find it most useful. This includes, but is not limited to,
  researchers working in the following areas:</p><ul><li>urban informatics</
 li><li>social sciences</li><li>demographics</li><li>environmental sciences<
 /li><li>health sciences</li><li>open science</li></ul><p>We encourage appli
 cations from EMCRs working in and around the above-mentioned disciplines. W
 e particularly encourage expressions of interests from EMCRs who meet any o
 f the following:</p><ul><li>identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islande
 r</li><li>are based in regional areas</li><li>work outside the university s
