 onsortium of the U.S.</a> (ARCUS) announces the next Arctic Research Semina
 r Series event featuring Marlene Laruelle from George Washington University
 . The event will be held in the ARCUS D.C. office at 1201 New York Avenue, 
 NW Washington D.C. on Tuesday, 6 March 2018 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. ET.</p><p>
 This seminar will also be available as a webinar live-stream for those unab
 le to attend in person. Instructions for accessing the event online will be
  sent to webinar registrants prior to the event.</p><p>Registration is requ
 ired for this event.</p><p>The ARCUS Arctic Research Seminar Series brings 
 leading Arctic researchers to Washington, D.C. to share the latest findings
  and what they mean for decision-making. These seminars will be of interest
  to federal agency officials, congressional staff, non-governmental organiz
 ations, associations, and the public.</p><p>This seminar, titled Russia's A
 rctic Ambitions: Domestic Factors and Foreign Policy Strategies, will discu
 ss the dominant role that domestic factors play in Russia's foreign policy 
 stances for the Arctic.</p><p>Marlene Laruelle is Research Professor of Int
 ernational Affairs and Associate Director of the Institute for European, Ru
 ssian, and Eurasian Studies (IERES) at the Elliott School of International 
 Affairs at George Washington University. Marlene explores contemporary poli
 tical, social and cultural changes in Russia and Central Asia through the p
 rism of ideologies and nationalism. On Russia's Arctic, Marlene has authore
 d Russia's Strategies in the Arctic and the Future of the Far North (M.E. S
 harpe, 2013), and edited New Mobilities and Social Changes in Russia's Arct
 ic Regions (Routledge, 2016). Marlene is co-Principal Investigator on sever
 al grants from National Science Foundation and Belmont Forum studying Arcti
 c urban sustainability.</p><p>This event is a brown-bag lunch that will be 
 held in the ARCUS D.C. office (1201 New York Avenue, NW Washington D.C. Fou
