 >The <strong>Netherlands Polar Committee of NWO</strong> and <strong>APECS 
 Netherlands</strong> are pleased to invite you for the annual Symposium of 
 the Netherlands Polar Programme, to be held on <strong>8 December, 2017 in 
 The Hague</strong>. The central topic of the symposium is:</p><p><strong>Th
 e value of International Collaborations and Networks in Polar Research</str
 ong></p><p>The 2017 annual symposium of the Netherlands Polar Programme (NP
 P) aims at highlighting the importance of international collaborations and 
 networks in polar research. Networking and collaborations are essential for
  the future of polar research in the Netherlands, from early career researc
 hers looking to develop networks for research opportunities to the provisio
 n of large-scale international research programmes to address pressing scie
 ntific questions in polar regions. Speakers from different career stages an
 d various disciplines are therefore invited to discuss the many aspects of 
 international partnerships, collaborations and communication that can lead 
 to a successful, commended and cost-effective polar research programme. We 
 welcome you to the annual symposium to discuss and celebrate these concepts
 , and to increase the links already in place within the polar community.&nb
 sp;<br /> <br /><strong>Manfred Reinke</strong> will share his extensive ex
 periences in international networks as the former Executive Secretary of th
 e Antarctic Treaty. <strong>Stef Bokhorst</strong> from the Vrije Universit
 eit Amsterdam will talk about his collaborations with multiple internationa
 l partners and why these are essential for his science and journey home fro
 m the Antarctic. <strong>Henrik Christiansen</strong> from the University o
 f Leuven will share his experiences as chair of APECS Belgium and early car
 eer scientist in (inter)national networks. Many more presentations about in
 ternational collaborations and networks in polar research will be scheduled
  and an interactive workshop will provide a different perspective on networ
 king within the polar community.</p><p>The symposium will be held on 8 Dece
 mber, 2017 at NWO, Laan van Nieuw Oost-Indië 300, 2593 CE in The Hague. The
  symposium will be English spoken.</p><p><strong>Participation is free, ple
 ase <a href="https://www.nwo.nl/onderzoek-en-resultaten/programmas/nederlan

 </a>.</strong></p><p>You are invited to present a poster during the Symposi
 um and can choose for this option on the registration form. <strong>The dea
 dline for submitting an abstract for a poster is 17 November.</strong><br /
