 growing community of Latin American polar scientists with researchers and p
 otential collaborators from different regions of the world, and to provide 
 a forum for sharing the latest results of research conducted in the White C
 ontinent. For this gathering, the city of Punta Arenas was chosen because i
 t is one of the main gateways for the National Antarctic Programs to Antarc
 tica, and the starting point for many expeditions from the “heroic age”.\nT
 he CLCA2017 will comprise 3 different activities:\n\n - Pre-congress Worksh
 ops (October 2-3, 2017)\n\n\n - IX Latin American Congress on Antarctic Sci
 ence:\n- Oral and poster presentations,\n- Keynote speeches,\n- Thematic sy
 mposia,\n- APECS meeting\n\n\n - Post-congress fieldtrip.The abstract submi
