DESCRIPTION:The Government of Iceland, with financial support from the Nordic Council o
 f Ministers, will host the Second International Symposium on Plastics in th
 e Arctic and Sub-Arctic Region at Harpa, Reykjavík Concert Hall and Confere
 nce Center, 22-23 November 2023. The conference will build on the first sym
 posium held in March 2021 and invites contributions on new scientific and l
 ocal knowledge as well as policy-related initiatives in the field of plasti
 c pollution to discuss ways and means to reduce the impact of plastics on A
 rctic ecosystems. The symposium will include platform presentations, poster
 s and panel discussions. Conference themes are the following:\n1. Monitorin
 g and assessment of plastic pollution in the Arctic.\n2. Methodological dev
 elopments to determine macro, micro and nano plastics.\n3. Sources and tran
 sport of plastic in the Arctic and sub-Arctic.\n4. Impacts of marine litter
  in the Arctic (environmental, economic and social). \n5. Arctic challenges
  and solutions for improved waste management.\n6. Tackling plastic pollutio
 n: international collaboration, policies, best practices and novel developm
