SUMMARY:PhD course on applied use of drones/UAVs in biogeosciences, focusing on Temperate and Arctic regions
LOCATION:University of Copenhagen\, Denmark
DESCRIPTION:We have open seats on our new PhD-course entitled “Application of UAV Data
in Temperate and Arctic Environmental Research”. The course is free for stu
dents and will be held at University of Copenhagen, Denmark, April 3-7, 201
 7. It is designed to fit students with an insight in GIS and remote sensing
. Prior experience with UAVs is not a prerequisite. We will mix theory and
hands-on, and focus on UAV platforms and lightweight optical/thermal/climat
e sensors, sensor calibration and ground truthing, survey planning, post-pr
ocessing to orthomosaics and 3D surface models, classifications (including
texture/object-based), coupling to satellite data, and analysis of the end
 results in a biogeo-context.\n \nLecturers:\nAssistant Professor, Jan van G
emert, Delft University of Technology, Delft, Netherland\nComputer Engineer
, Alberto Hornero Luque, Remote Sensing and Geospatial Analysis Lab., Cordo
ba, Spain\nPhD candidate, Stephen Klosterman, Harvard University, Boston, U
SA\nAssociate Professor, Signe Normand, Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark\
nResearcher, Urs Treier, Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark\nAssociate Prof
essor, Thomas Friborg, University of Copenhagen\nAssistant Professor, Andre
