SUMMARY:Young Arctic Voices Session at the Democracy Festival

DESCRIPTION:How to bring local, traditional and Indigenous Knowledge together with the 
 'western' approach to science to improve research and environmental observa
 tions across cultures? In this session Indigenous youth from the Arctic wil
 l discuss and raise awareness for their ideas and visions on how to combine
  these different knowledge systems based on their life experiences.\nTogeth
 er, among European and Arctic youth, we will exchange different perspective
 s and discuss how to make young people’s voices heard in the Arctic. Be pre
 pared for a very interactive and participatory session and a productive dia
 logue with us.We are looking forward to meeting you all!\nSpeakers are:\nAm
 alie Bourup, Student from University of Greenland\n Student at the Universi
 ty of Greenland in the Department of Arctic Social Sciences. - Alongside my
  studies, I work at the Parliamentary Office as a student assistant and in 
 my spare time I am Chairman of the Youth Organization (Siumup Inuusuttunut 
 Suleqatigiiffia) which is a youth movement that focuses on politics.\nAnja 
 Márjá Nystø Keskitalo, Advisor in the Saami Council's EU unit\n Anja Márjá 
 Nystø Keskitalo was raised in Guovdageaidnu on the Norwegian side of Sápmi.
  She holds an MSc in Geography from the Norwegian University of Science and
  Technology. Currently, Anja Márjá is working as an advisor for the Saami C
 ouncil's EU unit on topics including youth engagement and research.\nSebast
 ian Plate, Researcher for Foresight and Participation\n Sebastian Plate hol
 ds a degree in International Relations from the University of Groningen whe
 re his main research area was Arctic geopolitics. After the completion of a
 n internship at the German Arctic Office he now works as a researcher for F
 oresight and Participation at Ellery Studio in Berlin, where he engages in 
 and leads projects in the fields of climate adaptation, energy transition, 
 and social innovation. Through his experience with Futures Studies at UNESC
 O and affiliated partners, he is specialised in designing and facilitating
