 climate: international workshop (22 – 23.11.2021, Copenhagen, Denmark)</str
 ong></p><p style="text-align: justify;">We have extended the abstract deadl
 ine for the 2-day international hybrid workshop ‘High Arctic polynyas in a 
 changing climate’, which will be held online and in Copenhagen, Denmark, fr
 om the 22nd&nbsp;– 23rd&nbsp;of November 2021.</p><p style="text-align: jus
 tify;">Polynyas provide biological oases in the polar regions and their for
 mation is influenced by the complex interplay between atmospheric and ocean
 ographic forcing, as well as geographical setting. Reconstructions and obse
 rvations demonstrate these phenomena were and are vulnerable to the impacts
  of changing climate in the Arctic; the question remains as to their viabil
 ity (and how to predict this) in the future.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p style="text-
 align: justify;">The aim of this interdisciplinary workshop is to bring tog
 ether researchers from the paleo-community (working with e.g., marine and l
 acustrine proxies) and the modelling community to consolidate existing know
 ledge through a combination of short talks and poster presentations. Open f
 ormat panel discussions will aim to identify emerging perspectives and chal
 lenges in arctic polynya research as well as areas for synthesis, collabora
 tion, and opportunities for data-model assimilation.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p styl
 e="text-align: justify;">Please indicate your interest in attending via ema

 2) preference of poster/short talk and 3) a brief abstract (350 words max.)
 . The&nbsp;<strong>deadline for abstracts is 09.11.2021</strong>, after whi
 ch the workshop schedule and details will be announced. Participation in th
 e workshop is free of charge and there is limited financial support for tra
 vel for early career researchers from abroad wishing to attend in person.&n
 bsp;</p>
