SUMMARY:Nordic Geographers Meeting (NGM) 2022 - Call for abstract submission
LOCATION:Joensuu\, Finland
DESCRIPTION:Abstract submission for the 9th Nordic Geographers Meeting (https://www.ngm
2022.fi/) in Joensuu, Finland, 7.-10. February 2022 is now open, and we wou
ld like to draw your attention to the session #44: Land cover changes in (s
ub-) arctic regions.\nSession description:\nArctic and sub-arctic regions a
re experiencing various effects of rapid climate change. Climate warming is
expected to have consequences for vegetation, permafrost, snow cover, hydr
ology, herbivories, and human activities, for example. Both natural environ
ments and human livelihoods are affected by these changes and their feedbac
ks. Understanding the physical processes and their (inter)connections that
are taking place is essential to mitigate the impacts of changing climatic
conditions.\nTherefore, we invite contributions tackling land cover and lan
d use change issues from perspectives of physical and human geographies as
well as other related disciplines. Studies that use a multi-disciplinary ap
proach (e.g., field, airborne and satellite remote sensing observations, pa
rticipatory, laboratory and modelling techniques) are especially welcome.\n
More infor
mation about the conference. Note that the meeting is planned face-to-f
ace.\nLink to abstract submission (due October 29th, 2021): https://registr
ation.contio.fi/uef/Registration/Login?id=2369-T_2369-3019\nKind regards,\n
