Abstract submission for the 9th Nordic Geogra phers Meeting in Joensuu, Finland, 7.-10. February 2022 is now open, and we would like to draw your attention to the session #44: Land cover changes in (sub-) arctic regions.
Session description:
Arct ic and sub-arctic regions are experiencing various effects of rapid climate change. Climate warming is expected to have consequences for vegetation, p ermafrost, snow cover, hydrology, herbivories, and human activities, for ex ample. Both natural environments and human livelihoods are affected by thes e changes and their feedbacks. Understanding the physical processes and the ir (inter)connections that are taking place is essential to mitigate the im pacts of changing climatic conditions.
T herefore, we invite contributions tackling land cover and land use change i ssues from perspectives of physical and human geographies as well as other related disciplines. Studies that use a multi-disciplinary approach (e.g., field, airborne and satellite remote sensing observations, participatory, l aboratory and modelling techniques) are especially welcome.
