SUMMARY:1st Arctic Indigenous Peoples´ Food Congress
LOCATION:Guovdageaidnu (Kautokeino)\, Norway
DESCRIPTION:The event will have a youth profile, while the program will include cooking
 , demonstration of traditional foods and dishes, modern cuisine, preparatio
 n and processing, and will include a multitude of indigenous food cultures,
  traditional indigenous knowledge, traditions, stories and menus. There wil
 l also be a conference with presentations based on traditional indigenous k
 nowledge and science. The event will display the diversity of food resource
 s and systems of Arctic indigenous peoples, including reindeer and caribou 
 meat, moose meat, fish, birds, berries, plants and so on. The week-long eve
 nt is envisioned to culminate with a grand feast dinner the opening night o
 f the food conference on Thursday March 12. The whole event is to be a cele
 bration of the unique food systems of Arctic indigenous peoples.\nFood Inno
 vation Leadership WorkshopAs part of the 1st Arctic Indigenous Peoples´ Foo
 d Congress there will be a training workshop for Arctic indigenous youth - 
 ´Food innovation leadership´. It is a practical oriented workshop led by No
 rd University Business School together with UArctic EALAT Institute, Intern
 ational Centre for Reindeer Husbandry and Association of World Reindeer Her
 ders. Participation in the workshop is limited to 20 students. We welcome A
 rctic indigenous youth that are/or wish to be food entrepreneurs and food i
 nnovators. Due to limited participation there may be a need to prioritize y

		.\nWe welcome young people from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russ
 ia, North America and Greenland. Workshops are unique and practically orien
 ted that focus on creative processes that identify business ideas and the d
 evelopment of new business concepts related to traditional indigenous knowl
 edge, about food culture and resources. The course provides students with a
 n introduction to how new business ideas are identified and developed into 
 viable business concepts, including traditional indigenous people's knowled
 ge of food production and conservation as a basis for innovation and busine
 ss models. We will identify and understand how to bring business ideas to m
 arkets, develop a business concept, analyze business opportunities, identif
 y their own entrepreneurial potential, participate in creative business dev
 elopment processes, grasp basic concepts of innovation and circular economi
 cs, and understand the basics of indigenous food systems and traditional in
 digenous people's knowledge of food. At the same time, you get to attend pr
 ofessional seminars, about new methods for slaughter of reindeer, tradition
 al caribou hunters' knowledge, reconciliation processes between Arctic food
  knowledge, Arctic indigenous food congresses, chefs and food competitions.
