DESCRIPTION:The Arctic Data Center invites applications for their 2018 Data Science Tra
 ining for Arctic Research. This workshop will convene 13-17 August 2018 in 
 Santa Barbara, California.\nThis five-day workshop will provide Arctic rese
 archers with an overview of best practices in data management, training in 
 data science tools, and concrete steps and methods for documenting and uplo
 ading data and metadata to the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Arctic D
 ata Center.\nWorkshop topics will include:\n\n - Arctic Data Center and NSF
  Standards and Policies;\n - Data management plans;\n - Effective data mana
 gement for data preservation, including storing and preparing data in open 
 source formats, stability, longevity, interoperability, and metadata;\n - P
 ublishing data at the Arctic Data Center, including web-based submission an
 d automating submission for large data sets;\n - Data and metadata quality;
  and\n - Provenance for data and software.Space for this workshop is limite
 d. Early career and established researchers from the Arctic research commun
 ity are encouraged to apply.\nApplicants must complete the online applicati
 on form. The application form requests basic demographics in addition to a 
 two-page curriculum vitae and information about research background and dat
 a science training and skills. Preference will be given to applicants who p
 erform NSF-funded Arctic research.\nApplication deadline: 5:00 p.m. Pacific
