SUMMARY:Inspiring Girls Workshop: your chance to develop a field-based science program for girls
LOCATION:Switzerland
DESCRIPTION:Girls on Ice Switzerland (http://www.inspiringgirls.org/switzerland) is a t
uition free program for teenage girls 15-17 years old and is one of the exp
 editions offered by <a href="http://www.inspiringgirls.org" target="_blank"
rel="noopener">Inspiring Girls Expeditions</a>. We run wilderness science
expeditions different from typical technical mountaineering courses or scie
nce "summer camps" in that we truly integrate the wilderness challenge with
the intellectual challenge. Inspiring Girls Expeditions are taught by team
s of professional scientists, artists, and mountain guides.\nGirls on Ice S
witzerland is hosting an instructor workshop for future expedition leaders.
We also want to inspire new partner programs to expand Inspiring Girls Exp
editions to other languages, countries and regions, so we can offer this ex
perience to more girls. Erin Pettit, the founder and director of Inspiring
Girls Expeditions, will be in Switzerland to lead this workshop.\n \nWe are
looking for female scientists who are interested in teaching existing Insp
iring Girls Expeditions, or who are interested in taking leadership roles i
n developing new programs based on the successful Inspiring Girls philosoph
 y. For example:\n- Girls on Ice: in your language/country\n- Girls on River
 s / in Rain Forest / on Volcanoes / in Snow / ... : linking kayaking, mount
aineering, hiking, skiing with geomorphology, ecology, chemistry, physics,
geology or snow science.\n \nAlso - if you are an artist or guide who is in
terested in teaming up with a scientist to develop a program, we can provid
e help with connecting potential leadership teams.\n \nPlease visit http://
 www.inspiringgirls.org/instructor-workshop-switzerland for more information
on the workshop. \n \nThe workshop takes place in Switzerland from 11th to
14th of June, 2018. Workshop and accommodation costs are covered by Girls
on Ice Switzerland. Travel costs to and from the course location are the re
sponsibility of the participants. If the number of participants is larger t
han we expected, we might charge a small fee for accommodations.\n \nIf you
are interested in participating please send your full application via <a h
 ref="https://goo.gl/forms/w6xWS2svWUeXbxBz1" target="_blank" rel="noopener"
 >this form</a> until 30th of March, 2018. Let us know why you want to parti

lication should contain your interest in Inspiring Girls Expeditions or new
project ideas (Wilderness and Intellectual/Scientific context, Educational
philosophy) and your experience in the field of teaching and wilderness.\n
\nWe will review applications as they come in and we will stop accepting a
pplications when all spots are filled.\n
