DESCRIPTION:Organizers announce the 2018 Arctic Observing Summit (AOS) to be held 24-26
  June 2018, immediately following POLAR 2018, in Davos, Switzerland.\nThe t
 heme of this meeting is The Business Case for a pan-Arctic Observing System
  and will focus on the sub-themes of The Need for the Observing System, Imp
 lementing and Optimizing a Pan-Arctic Observing System, and Operating Obser
 ving Systems and Networks.\nThe AOS is a high-level biennial summit that ai
 ms to provide community-driven guidance for the design, implementation, coo
 rdination and sustained operation of an international network of Arctic obs
 erving systems. The AOS provides a platform to address urgent and broadly r
 ecognized needs of Arctic observing across all components of the Arctic sys
 tem. It fosters international communication on and coordination of long-ter
 m observations aimed at improving understanding of and response and adaptat
 ion to system-scale Arctic change. It is an international forum for optimiz
 ing resource allocation through coordination of and exchange among research
 ers, Indigenous organizations, the public, private and not-for profit secto
 rs and all others involved or interested in the Arctic. The AOS is a contri
 bution to the Sustaining Arctic Observing Networks (SAON) initiative.\nThis
  is the 4th Summit since inception in 2013. The AOS brings together a diver
 se community to continue to progress on the development, implementation and
  sustained support of a multi-purpose Arctic Observing System of Systems.\n
