SUMMARY:IV APECS-Brazil Symposium: Legacy and Perspectives of the Madrid Protocol: 25-years of history and the next 25-years
LOCATION:University of Brasília (UNB)\, Brasília\, DF\, Brazil
DESCRIPTION:The APECS-Brazil is pleased to announce their fourth scientific event that
is going to be held in Brasília, the capital of Brazil, one of our most imp
ortant cities and where most of the national-wide political decisions are m
ade. The University of Brasília will be our home for three intense and nice
days. We hope to organize an ideal space to join early career scientists (
ECRs), educators and seniors researchers working together to share their kn
owledge and experiences. After three well-succeed events in 2010, 2012 and
2014, the 2016 Symposium is focussed on the 25-anniversary of the Madrid Pr
otocol. We are planning to discuss the last 25-years of the Madrid Protocol
with our eyes in the next 25 years. What we can do to protect the Antarcti
c environment even more regarding the human presence? We also intent to pro
vide opportunities for ECS studying the poles by improving their personal s
kills giving talks and teaching short courses. Once more, another great goa
l of the APECS-Brazil Symposium will be including educators from all levels
to promote E&O activities as integral components of the polar research
aiming to stimulate future generations of polar researchers.\nFor more inf
