 er. The event will be held in the ARCUS D.C. office at 1201 New York Avenue

 seminar will also be available as a webinar live-stream for those unable to
  attend in person.\nRegistration is required for this event.\nThe ARCUS Arc
 tic Research Seminar Series brings some of the leading Arctic researchers t
 o Washington, D.C. to share the latest findings and what they mean for deci
 sion-making. These seminars will be of interest to federal agency officials
 , congressional staff, non-governmental organizations, associations, and th
 e public.\nThis seminar titled "The U.S. Arctic Observing Network - Mobiliz
 ing Interagency Observing Actions in an Era of Rapid Change" will be presen
 ted by Sandra Starkweather and will discuss the capabilities of the new Arc
 tic Observing Network (U.S. AON) initiative and how they are being mobilize
 d.\nSandra Starkweather is the Executive Director for the U.S. Arctic Obser
 ving Network, a NOAA funded position created to advance the National Oceani
 c and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and U.S. agency participation in pa
 rtnered Arctic observing activities and work towards a framework concept fo
 r an interagency U.S. AON. Starkweather has a joint background in engineeri
 ng (energy systems, renewables, conservation), earth science (Arctic climat
 ology), and science policy. She has experience in consulting engineering, u
 niversity research, project management, and planning. She has spent twelve 
 years traveling to and from Greenland to participate in or support Arctic f
 ield research. Sandy has combined her experiences to advance coordination a
 mong independently funded, flagship Arctic observatories for the Internatio
 nal Arctic Systems for Observing the Atmosphere (<a href="https://www.arcus
 .org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=3310&amp;qid=150894">IASOA<
 /a>) consortium and to advance the implementation of the U.S. Interagency A
 rctic Research Policy Committee's (IARPC) Five Year Plan for Arctic Researc
 h. She maintains a strong interest in improving the effectiveness of the Ar
 ctic research enterprise, particularly in situ observational research, thro
 ugh building stronger collaborations among all parties who benefit from sus
 tained Arctic observing.\nThis event is a brown-bag lunch that will be held
