DESCRIPTION:The Eastern Snow Conference (June 14 - 16) is rapidly approaching! The meet
 ing will take place at the Byrd Polar &amp; Climate Research Center, at the
  Ohio State University. The official deadline for abstract submission has p
 assed (April 8). We received well over fifty submissions, and are looking f
 orward to a great program. However, if you have a last minute abstract, we 
 can still accept a few more. See the website (http://www.easternsnow.org/an
 nual_meeting.html) for call for papers and other meeting details. There wil
 l be an icebreaker the evening of Tuesday the 14th. The scientific program 
 will begin Wednesday morning, and conclude on Thursday the 16th by noon. Th
 e conference banquet will take place Wednesday evening; we are privileged t
 o have Prof Lonnie Thompson as our banquet speaker. During lunch on Thursda
 y, there will be tours of the Byrd center and ice cores. After lunch on Thu
 rsday, we will organize a tour of several excellent  Columbus micro-breweri
 es for any who are interested. As a reminder, the scientific program is ope
 n for theoretical, experimental, and operational studies of snow, ice, and 
 winter hydrology. This year’s general theme is: Airborne and spaceborne rem
 ote sensing of snow and ice.  There will be a presentation and discussion o
 n the proposed NASA SnowEx campaign (<a href="http://neptune.gsfc.nasa.gov/
 hsb/index.php?section=322" class="">http://neptune.gsfc.nasa.gov/hsb/index.
 php?section=322</a>). We are looking forward to a great meeting, and hope t
 o see you in Columbus in June!
