SUMMARY:National Academies workshop: Technologies for Antarctic Research
LOCATION:Online
DESCRIPTION:The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine invites you t
o join a workshop on “Technology Developments to Advance Antarctic Research
”. This event will be held online, on May 3, 4, 5 (noon–4:00 pm EDT each da
 y). \n (https://www.nationalacademies.org/our-work/technology-developments-

 > \nThe goal of this event is to foster community-wide discussion about har
nessing cutting-edge technological innovations to advance, facilitate, and
transform Antarctic and polar research; to increase the reach of Antarctic
and polar research while reducing the environmental footprint of these oper
ations; and to facilitate broader, more diverse participation in Antarctic
and polar research. While focused primarily on Antarctic science, we will e
xplore lessons/solutions from Arctic science as well—and we actively seek t
o draw insights from scientists and engineers working outside of polar rese
arch.  \nAs input to this workshop, we invite your creative ideas regarding
: existing technologies that hold potential to advance key aspects of Antar
ctic/polar research, but have not yet been applied for this purpose; or new
technological advances that could plausibly (technologically, operationall
 y) be developed to advance key aspects of Antarctic/polar research. [Submit
input by April 20. You do not have to register for the workshop to submit
ideas.] \nTo submit ideas see the survey <a href="https://survey.alchemer.c
