Research Assistant / Postdoctoral Researcher - Arctic Data Assimilation
Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA
Woodwell Climate Research Center
  • Postdoctoral Researcher
  • Research Scientist

We seek a Research Assistant or a Postdoctoral Fellow to support a modeling project related to the impact of climate change on arctic terrestrial ecosystems. The selected candidate will develop a spatial data-assimilation framework for the Terrestrial Ecosystem Model (DVM-DOS-TEM) to improve predictions of carbon-climate feedbacks as a result of permafrost thawing. This position requires a mathematical background, computer coding experience, and the ability to work independently. Development of the data assimilation framework will require knowledge of Bayesian statistics and big data filtering methods (e.g., Kalman filter).

The selected candidate will work within a highly collaborative team of Arctic modelers, scientists, policy experts, and communications specialists for the Permafrost Pathways project.
