Dr. José Xavier is a Marine ecologist, doctorate of the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), with numerous publications in ecology and conservation of marine organisms in the Antarctic. His studies focus on understanding food web dynamics in relation to climate change, particularly on the predator-prey interactions between cephalopods and their predators (albatrosses, penguins, seals and fish). José has an extensive experience in interdisiciplinary studies and international collaborations, co-leader in the Portuguese Committee for the IPY, member of CBET of SCAR, Scientific Steering Committee of ICED-IPY, CAML-IPY, Cephalopod International Advisory Council (CIAC), Cambridge Philosophical Society, and was an active member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS)2007-2009. APECS members. Participation involves a 2-3 hour commitment on the day
of the panel meeting.
