Hello Polar Researchers!
Do you work with large datasets? Are you interested in open data-sharing initiatives for polar regions? The 2nd international Polar Data Forum (PDF II) will be held at the University of Waterloo this fall from October 27th-29th, 2015.
The Forum will provide a critically important venue for showcasing polar data initiatives, to learn from global partners and work collaboratively to continue developing an international vision and action plan. Interdisciplinary collaboration and access to data from various fields will become increasingly important if research is to keep pace with the rapid change occurring in polar regions.
PDF II provides a unique opportunity for coordination and information exchange regarding open polar data sharing between data managers, researchers and graduate students through a series of planned workshops, oral presentations and poster presentations. The ASA has been working closely with the Canadian Polar Data Catalogue to include a data management and stewardship workshop tailored specifically to graduate students and early career researchers - not to mention a student social with local craft beer and food to kick the Forum off!
Registration and abstract submission are now open to graduate students.
Presenters will have the opportunity to publish peer-reviewed Forum Papers in a planned special issue of the CODATA Data Science Journal.
Abstracts will be accepted until July, 1, 2015. Early bird registration ends on August 31, 2015.
