Hello APECS Members!

The Deadline for abstract submission for the Open SCAR Science Conference (3-6 August 2010, Buenos Aires) has been extended until the 15th April. We would like to invite you to submit your abstracts for poster or oral presentation. The scientific program is already available under: http://www.dna.gov.ar/scar2010/sessions.htm

We especially would like to encourage your participation in the sessions, where several of APECS members have been called to serve as conveners. We thank all of them for their time and effort in organizing this distinguished scientific conference. Below you can find the name of the APECS-conveners and their respective sessions at the OSC:

-Session 6: "Antarctic and South American climate: linking the past and present record" (Stefan Kraus - Co-Convener)

-Session 44: "Dynamics of Antarctic ice streams and ice shelves: processes and patterns" (José Araos - Co-convener)

Furthermore a discussion panel and an APECS social event are going to take place during the conference. We would be happy to have the opportunity to meet you all in person at this amazing city of Buenos Aires. More news about APECS at the OSC coming soon!

 

We also want to call your attention to the travel grants and fellowship program, which is offered by SCAR and the local organizers, as well as, the travel grant program for US residents (Deadline for the travel grant program 15th April!). NEW!!! Residents in Chile can also apply for travel grants from the Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH). For more details please contact the INACH (Deadline 30th April)
